ITALIAN DADS

The Embassies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in Italy created the project BE SMART, BE EQUAL. The exhibit “Papà Italiani” (Italian dads) is part of a cycle of events in 2021 focused on equal opportunities on the personal and professional life.

Valentina Tamborra with her view brings us in the daily life and the relationship between the Italian dads and their kids. The goal of the exhibit is to encourage the dads to spend more time with their kids and to promote the positive effects it has for the family and the society. An OCSE research showed that the fathers who take care of their kids in the early stage are then more involved with a benefit in their sense of fulfillness of their lives a better physical and mental health compared to those who have less interaction with their kids. At the same time even the kids benefit of better cognitive, emotional and physical results.
It’s many years that the important forum of cooperation between the Nordic countries, The Nordic Council of Ministers, has as its main project the Nordic Gender Effect at Work: “Promoting gender equality at work is not only the right thing to do – it is also smart. The Nordic Gender Effect at Work shares the true story of how Nordic investments in gender equality foster employment, family wellbeing and growth.”

The exhibit “Papà Italiani” by Valentina Tamborra is inspired by the “Swedish Dads” by Johan Bävman.
